+GICLÉE PRINT DESCRIPTION

Gicle (pronounced ?gee-clay?) is French for fine spray; an accurate description that describes the process of today?s ink jet printers. In the case of the Epson Stylus Pro 9600, the process uses seven digitally controlled Micro Piezo DX3 print heads capable of producing resolution of 2880 x 1440 dpi.

The archival qualities of a gicle print are dependent upon the ink and paper combination chosen to present the finished photograph. Epson?s UltraChrome Ink Technology printed on Epson and Hahnemhle Digital Media Art Paper has a light fastness rating over 100 years.

Like any fine work of art on paper, a gicle print should be protected preferably under UV plexi or glass. One should never display in direct sunlight, touch the surface, or use any solvent to clean the paper. With these considerations adhered to, the gicle print will give generations of enjoyment to its owner.
